October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month – a time to honor survivors, support those currently navigating diagnosis, and shine a light on prevention and education. At Wellity, prevention is at the heart of the work, and few embody that mission more deeply than Mary Jane Glade, DNP, APRN, NP-C, Founder of Wellity.

From the ICU to integrative wellness, Mary Jane has always been driven by one mission: to help patients prevent illness before it starts. Her journey began back in 2004 as a brand-new registered nurse in critical care, where she saw firsthand how many patients might have avoided devastating outcomes with better education and preventative care.

“If only someone had educated them earlier, given them more preventative advice, maybe they wouldn’t be here facing open-heart surgery or an amputation.”

That realization sparked her path to becoming a nurse practitioner, diving into women’s health, hereditary cancer screening, and hormone management. She started a hereditary cancer screening program and managed many high-risk women for breast health and hormone health. Caring for women with breast cancer was a huge turning point. It showed her where the gaps in our system are. Patients were often left without hormones, depressed, or unsupported after diagnosis.

Diving deeper into genetics helped Mary Jane  see how she could change outcomes for patients, by being proactive, offering education, and focusing on prevention long before disease takes hold.

But after years in institutional medicine, she recognized the limits of standardized care and the gaps it left behind. In March 2023, she launched Wellity, a practice built on precision medicine and truly individualized care.

Mary Jane’s Business Philosophy in Three Words: Precision. Health. Spa.

“Precision because medicine should be individualized. Health because longevity isn’t enough, we want patients to live well, not just long. Spa because the experience matters! Care should feel supportive, welcoming, and holistic.”

What Makes Wellity Different?

  • A focus on precision medicine, no two patients receive the same supplement, medication, or treatment plan
  • Whole-person care that integrates women’s health, aesthetics, infusions, genetics, weight management, and functional wellness
  • Collaboration with specialists, including a pelvic floor occupational therapist focused on lymphatic drainage and nervous system regulation
  • An environment that feels less like a clinic and more like a wellness destination

“Opening Wellity gave me the freedom to focus on individualized, preventative care. Hearing patients say, ‘No one has ever really listened to me before’ motivates me every day.”

A Practice Born From Passion

One moment stands out in her origin story: caring for an elderly ICU patient whose granddaughter was a nurse practitioner. That encounter showed her what was possible beyond the RN role and inspired her to continue her education and become a Nurse Practitioner.

Since then, her career has taken her from breast health and cancer prevention programs to the founding of her own precision-medicine practice. Every step has been guided by the belief that prevention and personalization save lives.

Innovation in Action

Wellity is rapidly evolving into the integrative clinic its founder envisioned. The addition of a new nurse practitioner specializing in postpartum care brings essential fourth-trimester support for women. Combined with aesthetic services, weight management, and functional medicine, the practice now offers comprehensive care across all stages of life.

Currently, the clinic is expanding into a new therapy space designed for strength training, bone health, and guided movement, giving women a safe and supportive place to build resilience and confidence in their bodies.

Breaking the Myths

One of the biggest myths she’s passionate about dismantling? That social media is a reliable source of medical advice.

“Medical care should come from licensed providers, not algorithms or unverified ‘health coaches.’ Tips and tricks are fine, but your actual medical care should never come from social media.”

Advice That Guides Her

“Surround yourself with people who share your vision. If they don’t, they won’t truly support your goals or be strong team members. You want people who care about clients, colleagues, and the business in the same way you do—people who believe in what you’re building and treat others with the same level of care.”

A Glimpse Into Her World

Wellness Must-Have: Movement, “movement is medicine”

  • Soundtrack of Her Life: Gravy Train by Yung Gravy for the fun and the crew; Everybody Wants to Rule the World for its reminder to choose collaboration over competition
  • Creative Escapes: Exercise, quick morning check-ins with her best friend, gardening, reading, and outdoor time with her kids
  • Big Realization: Many women lose hobbies of their own…Mary Jane’s committed to keeping something just for herself. She loves to spend time outdoors and stay active.

Looking Ahead

In the next five years, she envisions Wellity expanding services with additional healthcare providers and growing her therapy services for women, especially around movement and pelvic health. With a growing team, innovative therapies and a strong foundation in prevention, she’s building Wellity into a leader in women’s integrative health.
